The Vintage Village

The Ultimate Vintage Experience....

For you guys and gals who are adept at working with Photoshop - I have discovered a neat little trick that allows me to have a unique product border on my Twitter page! I figured this out by good ol' hunt & peck work. If you work in another photo editing program that allows for layers, you can probably do the same thing!

Here's the steps I took.

In Photoshop, create a blank template that is 1000W x 1200H pixels. The goal is to have a size that fills the whole Twitter page.

I picked out 5 images from my jewelry inventory file and opened each one up. Each image was cropped and then resized to a 100 width. I don't care what the height is - I just want a uniform picture width. Lighten as necessary.

Individually drag the small image over to your big background template and align vertically. I dragged mine to the left side of the template with just a little border space showing on the left margin and between each picture. You'll want to start at the top of the page and work down in a column. Each image is in it's own layer. If it gets too long it won't show on the Twitter page anyway because only the body scrolls - not the border.

After all the images are dragged to the template and spaced the way you it, close the individual file images WITHOUT SAVING changes to them. (I want to keep my file copies as I started with)

Want a color back ground? Go to your background layer (1st level), pick a color and apply it! Because the images are in layers, only the background gets colored. All of a sudden your verticle line of pictures has borders! Be sure to coordinate your background color with the Twitter site colors on your page.

Save the new template: File>SAVE AS>twitter.jpg. Make sure you save as a jpg I also saved the template in the Photoshop format - psd. (Two file copies total)

Go to your Twitter account and click on Settings > Design.
Click: Change Background Image
Click: Browse and upload your twitter.jpg image from your computer
Click: Tile Background box (this will put your border images on both sides!!
Click: Save Changes.

That's it! When you see your page you should see a row of the same products on each border side of your Twitter page! What a great way to get 5 more items in view!

Here's the beauty part too: If you save your template in Photoshop without scrunching down the layers > twitter1.psd > you'll have a template on file where you can change images and the color of your background at any time. Then you just re-upload it to your account.

Now ... as I mentioned, this was discovered by the hunt & peck method so there may be better ways to accomplish it. I'll be very willing to help anyone with Photoshop who wants to try it. Or, if you have better methods, then feel free to post them here!

Twitter is a neat tool and having your own product-oriented background just makes it even better marketing!

Enjoy!
