The Vintage Village

The Ultimate Vintage Experience....

A dear former B&M store customer got me hooked on making a Treasury in Etsy! When I first joined the site, I didn't get what all the hub bub was about. But now, after only 2 creations, I do get it! I've met many new people just doing the two Treasuries (hence, called T's) and it was a fun process too. I got a better idea of what was being presented on Etsy too! It's a matter of patience, counting, ignoring everything else in your life.... and having yourself all set when the "magic box" comes up!

I'm working on a goal for the world of vintage: Make us seen! And not in just an "oh, that old stuff" format. I want to show in picture and grouping the charm and quality that the antiques and collectibles field offers ~ in Etsy! So if you'd like to join my quest, terrific! The more T's that we get into Etsy the better the network shopping will be for everybody.

For the recent T created, here's the process followed.

Early AM Aha Moment! - I noticed the Treasury number was getting pretty low - 390s or something like that. There's a shot at grabbing a T slot today!

-- Sort the Treasury page by Expiration date with soonest closings showing first
-- There's an average of 20 views per page. Now count how many T's it will take to expire to get to 334! (not 333)
-- Look at the expiration time for that last T - Now you have a better estimate of time when #333 will open up the "magic box" on the main T page. Look at that T and check it's expiration time.

Next:
.........I set my trusty Pampered Chef Timer on my desk! (A mom's party for her daughter's shows-glad I bought it!). I certainly do not want to be slave to the computer for 5-10 hrs (oh yeah, gotta remember that!!)

After all the calculating, comes the fun part! Think up a theme and open up your creative mind! Mine are to showcase good vintage - good imagery--and quality /age emphasis or uniqueness of use of vintage. Pick whatever theme you like - the more unique the better!

Next:
-- Open up the Poster Sketch page. http://www.etsy.com/poster_sketch.php This is an amazing tool right on the Etsy site. It should certainly be a Favorite to bookmark in your own computer file!

Here comes the best fun part
-- hop around Etsy at your leisure and create a T page! It's all done by finding a listing you like that fits your theme, and copy the item number on the page (lower right). Just paste that number into the little ID box on your Sketch page and click, OK.
-- The image comes up and you can tell if the theme is working. You can also drag those boxes around to put them in the right order you prefer. Pick all 16 items - some will stay on reserve incase something sells out of your T.

Here's an important reminder: The poster sketch page STAYS AS IS until you "Clear All" with the click. So you can leave your Etsy site - attend to life as a normal person, and then come back later and just click the same link again - Whalla- your work is still there!

Now, many hours later I'm all set to go. When the timer goes off, recheck to see how close you are to the important T expiration time to make 333 come up. The main T page refreshes automatically so don't worry about refreshing the browser page.

and then......... When the magic time is right - a box will appear at the bottom of the page asking for a title. Just type in your title (be prepared - you can't change this) and click next and YOU GOT TREASURY!

The rest of the setup is on the next page and you can take your time ~ the T is yours!

So there you have it! It's fun and I know that Treasuries do bring exposure, new friends, and hopefully new customers also. I invite everyone to try their hand at it - I don't want to be the only vintage junkie on the board! The more the merrier.
