Recently I stumbled upon the most fascinating of sites, full of far off places, mummies and Gothic arches. If you were a child like I was, who dreamed of seeing the pyramids of Egypt and of standing before Stonehenge, be sure to take a few moments to visit. This was exactly the sort of thing, except in book form, that helped to foster a lifelong love of history and the past. Never made it to the pyramids but I did get to stand before Stonehenge!

Antique Jewelry - The Victorian Era
Most People, especially collectors and dealers, are interested to some degree in old jewelry. And a favorite time in history for romance and jewelry was the Victorian era.
Queen Victoria ascended to the throne in 1837 and the world was about to change with the Queens reign and the Industrial Revolution. The romance and wedding of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert in 1841 took on a new interest in sentimental and romantic jewelry. Victoria's engagement ring from… Continue

An antique horse brass with the figure of a manx cat- a cat with no tail! Hanging on the brass are beautiful Czech faceted glass beads in the Picasso style. A vintage key is tucked in too. A gorgeous shade of deep woodsy green,… Continue
Ok - I admit it. I'm a bit clip happy these days with vintage sweater clips (aka sweater guards). These little beauties are an easy collectible and fun to wear on a shirt, sweater, hat or pocket. I've even piled up a few and worn them together in a layered look.
This morning I took pictures of the latest batch to come in and found this sweet one.

Lucrezia Borgia was a beauty but she really was quite the devious enemy when she needed to be... Sometimes I think that mean gene never died and still exists (I saying this with love from past experiences with people) .. BUT, getting back to old Lucrezia .....
I've mostly been laying around trying to behave myself. Had my appendix out 2 weeks ago & it wasn't the easy kind. I seem to not be able to grasp (I mean really cognitively!) how debilitated I am.... I'll feel better tomorrow, and then - oopps - she's down again!! I don't have any nerves where they made the incision in the midline of my belly from some cancer reconstruction several years ago. [OK tmi. SRY] So I don't have that nice little warning sign - otherwise known as PAIN!- to tell me "… Continue

I guess pick could be a play on words. I have always loved antique combs...the more elaborate, the better. They are great to have out on a dressing table just for decoration. I have long hair but not enough to keep one of these in place.

I figured all you people might want to know at least a little bit of who I am and my background before following the crazy, jewelry making, blogging person.
Well to start out, my name is Kayla and I am a November baby(that's right, Scorpio through and through). I was named after a soap opera star. Yes, that's a little TOO much detail, but I love that story =] I am 19 years young and simply cannot believe I will be 20 this year. I was raised a none practicing catholic, however the past few years… Continue
With Easter coming up April 12th, I will be adding vintage crosses and/or crucifixes to my shop for those who would like a unique way to share their faith. There is something especially appealing about a cross, but even more so a vintage cross - at least to me. They evoke a feeling of tradition (history) and sentiment to them that many, myself included, find comforting and inspiring. They make excellent gifts for Mother's Day, graduation or for a friend going through difficult times.
