Coconut Road Vintage Renninger's November Extravaganza-Mt. Dora, FL

I've been going to the Extravaganza's for about 20 years now. This was the smallest ever and, probably, the least attended. My husband said he heard dealers crabbing about their sales. But, there were lots of people pulling carts that were full to the brim. Ours was almost full by the time we left seven hours after we got there! There were more professional dealers there than the guys who bring in the boxes of stuff you have to paw thru to see what's in it. I LOVE those guys but, they were sadl… Continue

SweetRice One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

We love to go vintage shopping and the best part, for us, is the research! When we find something and have a gut feeling about it, we purchase it. The fun part is finding out what it is and how it was used. When we research items we are amazed at the creative spirit that is imbedded in the object! Cal’s favorites are Milk Glass, Pressed glass and Fire King glassware. I love the jewelry, books, kitchen stuff, holiday, paper items and “I can’t believe you bought that”! I love to see the creative s… Continue

So Dear 2 My Heart Life in the Land of Vintage - I Must COLLECT Myself!

Someone dear recently asked that I provide a bio so that they can write a feature on my shop in an upcoming blog. Write about me? ICK! It's easy to write about my, shall we say....unconventional... life as a kid since it's almost like remembering someone else...but current day??? YUK! Anyway, while I was arduously typing and deleting, typing and deleting, it occurred to me that my collections probably tell more about me than most of the boring stuff I can drudge up and commit to paper.... I rea… Continue

Another Time Antiques is the toughest business!

I'd like to share a morning coffee piece that I wrote for my website. I sometimes wonder why on earth I was pulled into becoming an antiques merchant. We really do things differently!! Thanks to the quite early morning hours of the day, there's always time for coffee and quiet contemplation. One day, as I was reading the morning dose of doom --aka the newspaper-- it occurred to me that we merchants in the antiques business attempt to thrive in the toughest business on earth! The major… Continue
